Mick’s last 8 trips to Willington have produced a grand total of 591lb 2oz of fish.
Karim Dhanji has managed to tempt another 5 mirror carp to 19lb 6oz from The Airman during recent sessions, including a couple of the sought after ‘old warriors’ with the distinctive downturned mouths.

Preparation for the River Season
Committee members Jonathan & Gary Taylor have been busy
over the weekend clearing vegetation on the river venues in preparation for the 16th June, Willington, Little Paxton & Barford footpaths and the swims were strimmed, the rivers are looking very good for the 16th.

Mick Baldwin has been concentrating his day sessions on Willington Lake over the last couple of weeks. Mick decided to try a swim that had produced well for him in previous seasons, but his first visit produced just a solitary bream. A return to the same swim a few days later was much more productive with Mick landing 9 ‘nuisance’ carp to 15lb 10oz and 9 bream to 7lb 5oz for a total weight of 128lb 9oz.
Mick has fished the same swim twice during the last week landing 14 bream, 3 carp and a tench for 115lb 2oz followed by 13 bream to 7lb 1oz, 1 carp and a 6lb 13oz tench for 82lb 12oz.
Daniel Ryan’s recent 36h session produced 5 common carp and surprisingly no mirrors. 3 of the commons weighed between 9-14lb, another of 22lb and his largest of 26lb was caught just as Daniel was was getting ready to leave.

The Airman will be closed and out of bounds to members from 9am Saturday 17 May 2025 and will reopen at 8am on Sunday 18 May 2025. Essential maintenance work will be undertake during the closure and volunteers are not required to attend.
Colin Warne recently spent a 72h session at The Airman in pursuit of the carp, but his trip coincided with the catfish being on the feed. Colin landed 7 catfish during his session ranging from 19lb to 47lb and one bream, but did not catch any of the resident carp. Colin even tempted two of his catfish on tiger nuts. The previous week Karim Dhanji managed two mirror carp of 13lb 10oz and 22lb during a short daytime session and Paul Burton landed a 16lb 4oz mirror during an overnight session.
Daniel Ryan landed his new Willington Lake PB mirror carp of 33lb 8oz a couple of weeks ago, and is now happy for the club to share news of the capture.
The continued warm spell of weather has triggered several species spawning. Members should use common sense and avoid fishing, or casting into, areas where fish are actively spawning.
