After two blanks at Willington Lake, Mick Baldwin decided to try his luck at Broom Lake. Mick experimented with several different baits before he found one that worked and went on to catch 11 bream between 4lb 10oz and 6lb 4oz and a mirror carp of 13lb 8oz for a total weight of 68lb 10oz.

Neil Bygrave concentrated on Broom River for the final couple of weeks of the river season. Neil’s first trip resulted in 3 chub of 4lb 2oz, 4lb 1oz and a mid ‘3’ plus a perch of 2lb 12oz. Second trip resulted in 2 chub to 4lb, two decent perch and an 8oz brown trout. Third trip resulted in two perch of 1lb 8oz and 1lb. Neil was full of anticipation for his final trip on the last day of the season but all he managed was a single small roach. Neil found a 3m landing net handle in the undergrowth. If any member has lost a landing net handle please contact the club with a full description and we will try and reunite it with the owner.

In February Steve May had a great day at the Airman, putting 8 bream on the bank. It may have been cold and wet but for those souls brave enough to venture out the fish were there.
